Many of my favourite hikes are not far from the small mountain town of Canmore. An amazing little town with great people. This is one of the pedestrian bridges in town just this past Spring. Looking forward to winter and snow

Gorgeous, stunning…must confess it makes me cold just looking at it! I’m a Texas girl at heart~
Patrick can you please just once post a ‘crappy’ photo!!!
Stunning as usual ..thank you.
I do not think he can.
It’s just not possible.
I agree!!! SO COLD
Reblogged this on nhicksbunao.
Grey of storms and the white of snow are so beautiful when captured well…your photography certainly captures it well. So beautifully peaceful.
Let me know when you and any friends need a hostess.
You should start hiking and photographing the mountains of Asturias, Spain.
I would have never found your blog if you hadn’t liked my silly little ole’ blog. Your photography is amazing. Very inspiring!
same, if you hadn’t somehow come across my brand-spanking new blog, I wouldn’t have found you and these amazing photos. I own a Canon 550D, it was a present from the fiancé – I did photography at college and never had the money as student to buy equipment so that I could follow it up. I’m now out of university, with a little more time on my hands so I will be putting my skills to the test. Your blog is inspiring. Makes my desire to travel the world go into overdrive
Thank you for sharing!

OMG I L.O.V.E. this!!!!
Winter is my favorite season. Here in the states (Ohio specifically) winter seemed to pass by us last year. I’m hoping for some major snow this year. Again, I just think this image is pure magic. Stunning.
Superb!
Brilliant Photo! Cannot wait to start my season working as a chalet host in the French Alpes this November! Bring on the Snoooooow!
Just bring the pictures out…I can wait for the real thing!
“Winter is coming.” I need to ask: Game of Thrones fan, or just a seasonal observation?
Game of thrones fan
Yup, me too. Plus your photography always rocks. I sent your page to a friend in South Africa who spent some time in Antarctica, and he said your winter photos made him quite nostalgic.
Somehow the Game of Thrones reference makes the picture that much more beautiful. Or maybe it’s just me…
That is beautiful!! I love old iron bridges.
Love this!
Amazing!
oh i love this one. so pretty.
Games of Thrones….where….can wait for the next instalment…. I LOVE IT …almost as much as your photos.
that was so meant to be Game of and can’t wait…. it’s 1.30am..goodnight..
Love this…. Loved reading that series of books as well…

Stunning!
I got a bit of a chill just looking at this one. These are the photos that trick us into thinking winter is beautiful
shiver….malt needed…..stunning!!! A man in crisis! can we go to some happy and bright places tomorrow
Love it!
I love looking at your pictures! They remind of the most amazing year I spent in Redcliffe, Alberta (near Medicine Hat). I visited Canmore once and I actually remember this bridge! Oh, the good time! Thanks for this!
dough! say it like Homer Simpson…I’m not with you on the winter thing, but I fancy the photography.
This is such an appropriate photo as the seasons are changing!
Beautiful!
Having lived in the cold Northeast, it is much more enjoyable to view your pictures of wnter (and spring in this case) than suffer through it firsthand
Wow great picture! Really looking forward to the moment snow will fall in the Netherlands!
http://www.dipitblack.wordpress.com
this is a beautiful picture and I’m loving the GoT reference
I totally need to go there…
This is AMAZING! Great shot.
The weather people are calling for the white stuff next week. As for me we already have about seven months of snow.It is a good shot.
Beautiful work, winters coming I love the black & white.
Love the Game of Thrones reference! Beautiful photo.
Time to pair up my mittens and dig out the scarves!
Me too – it’s such a great phrase! Love the photo too
Just looking at this makes me shiver! Its gorgeous.
Canmore is quintessential Canadian. Thank you for reminding me that winter is coming – a great season for the “north people.”
This is absolutely beautiful!!!! I would love to visit Canada one day in the wintertime! Thanks for sharing!
Love your pictures! I was born and raised in Alberta, I live in LA now. Your photos bring back great memories, and make me just a little homesick. I miss winter. Maybe not the -30 degree part.
yet another great shot, and winter is coming…love the game a thrones reference!
Did you just take that picture on Sept. 28th?
Great photo and I love winter, although where I live in the UK, we don’t get as much snow as you
Winter is my favorite season! Only thing is I don’t get to experience a true winter where I live… :/ guess I’ll live vicariously through your photo!
A “brrr” feeling.
Just not ready for snow/winter yet.
nice
It’s hard enough living in the northeast on a mountain top, without being reminded of winter before it’s here. But I still love your photos. Just curious–You changed your gravatar—why?
This looks so much like the bridge we used to walk across when we were kids to get to school. It is also a pedestrian bridge now but used to have logging trucks going across back in the day with a separate sidewalk on one side. And given I grew up in northern NH – it looked like this with snow on it – a lot!
Love this shot! Nice work.
Great photo! Nice form. Love the title. =p
ahhh… winter! a few years ago, i made a last minute decision to visit france (http://themamadiary.wordpress.com/category/travel/page/2/) so that i could truly enjoy the season under snow. i had 1 grumpy person with me who to this day claims that i forcefully dragged him there. looking forward to your winter photographs!
I love the precise symmetry of this.
Very nice! Now I feel cold.
This is such a beautiful photo. It brings back a lot of nostalgia from when I was growing up in Michigan.
This is SO beautiful… haha, I’m starting to wonder if I’m missing out on something by not ever seeing snow!
I really love your photography. Thanks for sharing this
I’m so glad I follow this blog. Everytime I log on I’m treated to new AMAZING pictures. Keep them coming!
B-E-A-utiful!!! I’ve been to Canmore also, and it’s great that you can take such a mundane thing such as a bridge and make it so magnificent!
Lovely Pic … Thanks for sharing
Awesome!!! I can’t believe that you take pics so well without photo-shopping!
Hola creative soul, just wanted to let you know you are on the receiving end of the Bear Hug award:) You can read more here: http://missytree.com/2012/09/29/the-bear-hug-award-an-award-of-sincere-appreciation-goes-to/
A beautiful sight! But – brrrrrr….
Beautiful! Almost makes me wish for winter. ALMOST!!
Stunning photo!!
Just lovely! As a native Vermonter, furrylittlegnome must confess that she enjoys seeing snow!!!
Ah, I can’t wait for winter!! For a teacher, a snow day is just as much fun as when I was a little girl
I really love the contrast and patterns in this–I have been playing around with black and white and sepia photos again this summer, and it really gives a “new” perspective. I love it!
Beautiful! I love the industrial feel of the bridge and the softness of the snow. Gorgeous contrast. …although I’m not quite ready for it to snow here…
Not today in Calgary, it isn’t!
If I look at it long enough, I feel the desire for a scarf.
I live about an hour from Canmore, and we’re having such wonderful Fall weather here – I really am not looking forward to snow!
You really take amazing pictures! Fall, rather than winter, is coming in my city, lol. And thank you for following my blog, very appreciated
Spent some time in Canmore years ago (living in South Carolina now). Beautiful place and you captured a lovely moment with this one.
You do such a great job with photography – all the photos on your blog, are beautiful! Well Done
Such a wonderful place to take a walk in the winter. I’m supposing summer, spring and fall are equally great!
Breathtaking.
bummer – we just went through there this summer and I missed this! Beautiful photo. Never been there in the winter.
Oh. My. God. Patrick seriously every photo I
think you have outdone your self then you go ahead and post another breathtaking shot. Sick. I love every megapixel of it!
What struck me first about this photo is its solitude and an intense sensation of what lies beyond the bridge – it makes me feel like I am watching a war film where soldiers are at the edge of things. It makes me feel like Bastogne but apparently the foliage/terrain is not the same, maybe its the snow.
Not a Game of Thrones watcher – don’t have it here in Singapore.
Would love to get the whole GoT series when its out on DVD.
Wow! Stunning picture and that it is black and white makes it perfect.
Been following and enjoying your blog for some time now. Absolutely stunning stuff!
Cool, Cooler . . . . Freez !
im excited for winter!
Day after day I hit the “like” button on your photos (along with a lot of other people!). You seem to consistently offer beautiful images and there’s seems to be such a fine spirit behind the photos and the writing. Thanks for this.
Striking and desolate beauty. Amazing.
So cool! =)
Beautiful shot. I don’t believe Hollywood has ever captured a similar photograph for a movie. The photo has the type of beauty that surprises people when they encounter it, yet the beauty still seems real. The beauty is palpable. It’s not some occurrence brought on by another world. The way the snow has left its mark on almost every inch of the bridge and the desolate beauty that echos from the photograph is just so beautiful and wonderful. You did a great job in capturing this moment in nature’s time.
Also, thank you for following my blog!

Great picture!! I wish we have snow here
)
Wow very nice, the photo not the weather. LOL
These images make me look forward to walking in the snow, oddly enough. Nice.
Ooooooooomg! This is stunningly beautiful. Wow. Just wow.
looking at your pics makes me grow restless, waiting for winter.
This is beautiful! Love your photos; I am so excited for winter.

This is gorgeous! I love winter so much. I cannot wait for the snow.
Amazing image. Awesome in BW
I love ur photos. They are simple, but wonderful. You can see the little details so clear. Cgt.
Great! I love the symmetry
Your work is stunning. Hands down, breathtaking. You have an extraordinary gift. Never forget your camera, amigo. It would be an injustice to us all…
You are incredibly talented. Just ordered this print. I had to have it. So beautiful. Since you asked, my experience with SmugMug was perfect, it could not have been easier.
Love this shot. Winter is coming, but I only look forward to it in terms of some of the beautiful shots you can get. Yours is one of them.
Thanks for visiting and liking my post “Formation”.
Love this shot – it’s stunning!
I’d like to have this one on my wall, it’s great.
This is beautiful-feel like I’m about to take a nice little walk on this bridge. I like the Game of Thrones reference.
out standing shot even though I am from a cold stream country ( Afghanistan) looking this snap shot making me feel cool
Your shots are brilliant and I love this one – I was born in the Bavarian Alps and just love snowy photos – never enjoyed shovelling it much
Thank you for dropping in on my blog. I always love someone new dropping in, just because it always leads to discovering another wonderful blog.
Ah, snow… but it’s usually just slush over here on the west coast with all the rain. Freezing rain. And cramped buses. Not fun.
Anyway, just want to say I love your blog (even if I don’t comment much!) and it’s one of the few I visit every night before bed. Thanks for the photographs, stories, and feeling I (and I’m sure many other people) get when we click on your bookmark, get an email notification, or discover this collection of wonder for the first time.
If every blog here on wordpress was a snowflake, yours would be the one that causes an avalanche, floats up, and first shines when the sun rises against the new mountainside. Everything melts, but you’ve made an everlasting impression.
We had bitter cold yesterday and snow overnight, then a gorgeous warm spring day today. I’m looking forward to summer and some more consistent weather!
Thanks for checking out my blog. Love this photo of the pedestrian bridge. When I used to live in Calgary I’d get out to Canmore a few times a year and always enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for following! ^.^
Excellent photo. Makes me dream of wintertime days.
Absolutely beautiful! Very picturesque!
Thanks for liking my “Grand Adventures” blog. I like hiking the trails upwards, in all senses. Your photography is noteworthy, for sure!
Great vanishing point – beautiful photo.
This is really beautiful! I love winters, though I’ve never seen one in real life. Everything just looks so stunning in white. I do hope winter is coming nicely for everyone in the North!
A gorgeous view and perfect balance between light and shadows. Wish I could be there in the next spring. Thank you for showing this small wonderful pieces of the world!
where it lead?
Ghostly. Spectacular!
What a stunning picture!!! Thank you for sharing this.
Love the winter photos. I doubt we’ll ever see snow like that here in south Louisiana!
I was chocked at first because I thought the pictures was taken recently
no snow now, please! But otherwise georgious shot!
Your photos are really amazing!! Wish I was that good
Loved your title.
This picture is gorgeous!
Thank you for liking my post “Central Texas Ranch”. I appreciate that you took to the time to look at my humble and amateur photography. I have now found your blog filled with your photography that is over the top excellent. I will continue to visit your blog and look at the beautiful adventures that you have captured with your camera/s.
Patrick I love this winter photo, it brings back great memories of walking in freshly falling crisp white snow in Montreal and not so great memories of trudging through messy slush days later………:0)….thanks for the “like” re: My Moment of Solitude………Blessings to you!……..Kim
I love the comment at the top. Somebody asked if you could post a crappy photo … just once! I chuckled.
This is a classic photo, of course. Really. But you know that.
Absolutely beautiful. Makes me shiver, and look forward to the impending snow just a little bit.
I love it.
Wow…now I want to jump through my screen onto the bridge… Nice work..!
This is simply stunning.
Beautiful photo! Wow, cold!
Nice! makes me more sad that we don’t have winter in the Philippines
great shot
Amazing! Really nice pictures and maybe the title is linked to the HBO serie ‘Game of Thrones’?
I’m late to the party, and don’t know whether you’ll even see this. Anyway, choosing blk & wht is so perfect here. A great photo. I’m curious about whether you considered making it “perfectly” symmetrical, and if so, how you came to decide to leave it slightly off center. But I think most importantly it’s about the texture of the cold, which you really show here. Thanks!
Love the Game of Thrones reference—and of course the marvelous pictures…
Beautiful picture! (And if the title has anything to do with Game of Thrones…extra awesome!)
I love your art.
Such wonderful photos!
Your photography is absolutely beautiful!
Great perspective!
Very linear. Nice. Hazy. Snowing. Trees. Groovy. Yum.
Gorgeous! If winter always looked like this I wouldn’t mind it so much.
no way! still autumn to me!!! I hate cold!
but you know..nice photo!
Beautiful. And you give me hope. I live in Colorado and don’t ski so winter is a difficult time for me. But now that I’m loving photography, there are amazing winter photographs waiting to be taken! Thank you so much for the honor of following my blog and liking my post
Your photography is breathtaking.
Stunning work!

WOAH! I haven’t even seen real snow in my life! I live in Hong Kong and the lowest temperature is 6 degrees and I feel cold already! Good Luck, hope you make it and have a great time. It’s gonna be an awesome experience.

Absolutely beautiful! Wish I was there!
I want to go to there
Astonishingly beautiful.
I miss winter and this photo makes it worse, but in a good way. And is that a Game of Thrones reference I see?
I’m taking the title is a game of thrones reference? If it isn’t I’m still going to take it as a game of thrones reference. You captured the snow and isolation beautifully.
simply beautiful. i love the quiet, eerie feeling of the photo
This picture makes me want Winter right now!
Superb pic! We lived in Canmore not long ago so we so ‘get’ the magical landscape you have to delight your talent… And U got plenty of it! Great site! J
This is beautiful! I’d love to see more of the town; it sounds great.
This is really stunning. Your pictures are beautiful, this particular one is getting me pumped for Winter
your pictures are amazing!
I absolutely love Canmore — been 3 times and want to return. One of the most beautiful places on earth. Quaint, but majestic!

Oh my goodness this is beautiful! I just want to walk through that snow. That’s my favorite, being the first to walk through newly fallen snow <3. Your work is absolutely brilliant. Gorgeous, all of it!
GoT fan, eh? Great DoF!
“Looking forward to winter and snow”, I wish I could say that. 28 degrees here, flip flops and shorts all year long, barely any seasons, but in the end not as bad as it sounds. Regards from Singapore. … Still I will miss the cold, the snow and my BOOTS. Thanks for the fabulous winter picture!
I simply love the way you see and share that sight
These pictures are stunning!!!
Breath taking!
Gorgeous!
I love your work! A true artist behind the lens!
interesting pictures in your blog.

robert
Incredible shots!
The air is clean and crisp I’m sure! Fantastic shot!
Mesmerizing…love the colour contrast. I don’t even wanna know how cold it is there. I love snow, I hate cold. Lol.
I love this picture. One cannot help to stare. How such a beautiful thing and be so cold.
Looked at this beautiful photo and thought, “Wow, that looks like the bridge I used to walk on in Canmore when I lived there. And it is!” Fun to see such a great shot of the bridge I crossed for many hikes, especially in its winter glory.
Greetings from Colorado thanks for the like and follow. Your work is wonderful!
Love your work bro! Stunning photography, so beautiful. Keep it up!

This is a great effect!
WOW!!! Awesome!!!
Simply beautiful. I like the hazy fog on the lake and the floating dock/boathouse, or what ever it is called, seems to float on a could. Great shot of the lake and the others are all so good also.
That is supposed to say float on a cloud (i wrote could) I am a bit tired, Pleas excuse error. Woulod you miond correcting it— if you have time?
