Water Drop Photography
Background
I’ll start by saying that there are no Photoshop tricks in these images; the only adjustments done are for exposure/contrast and some cleanup of the image. All colour is from gels on the flashes and food colouring in the water. Here is link to an excellent article by Jose Maria Castelo on a similar setup to mine: http://mural.uv.es/jocasa/dripping/dripping.html
I plan on posting some photos of my own setup and a detailed write up later this week.

Totally cool, as per usual. Well Done.
That is extremely cool..
I like the blue and green one . . .But i like blue what can i say. lol
Beautiful!
Wow, amazing!
A true magician, showing us the impossible
I tried doing this a few weeks ago, with mediocre results. These are done quite well. I must say, this is not an easy thing to accomplish. Very nice.
I’m afraid of water drops….thank you.
Very Nice!!
So cool!!! How’d you do that? Yet here I am, blogging about how to turn on a gadget
Must be burst mode to have such perfect look for a split second event.. Nice shot, bravo!!!
Not something I have tackled, look forward to your detailed write up.
OhMyGawd…. You are freakin’ amazing!!! Straight up amazing!

Stunning!!!!!
Nicely done!
You know, I don’t think I’ve seen a picture on your blog that wasn’t stunning in some way. Keep it up, there’s little beautiful amazement out there that’s so easily accessible. Thank you for making me smile.
Fantastic shots!
Absolutely incredible photograph. I’m trying to imagine what your photo set up looks like behind these photos
Fantastic photos. Your stuff just gets more and more impressive with every post. Do you do any commercial photography?
Stunning!
Gorgeous Patrick!

Every time I look at your work, I’m more amazed!
Beautiful – the green one looks almost like a semi-submerged upside-down wine glass.
Fantastic shots! I love the colours.
Beautiful!
Patrick I don’t know if you got my message before but I’ll like to buy a picture that would be great for the front cover of my book . The idea must be like my blog , the book called Metamophosis.
Those are wonderful art-meets-science images! Setting up that sort of thing is a marvellous form of play that grown ups need to engage in a lot more than we do. Congratulations!
wow, amazing shots!
love it
Amazing shots
Gorgeous as usual. Thanks for popping in and looking at my old pics I posted. Not nearly the quality of yours, but for their day and we are talking 1800′s in most cases …pretty special. Fave – Blue water one for me. Well done Patrick very talented little pumpkin you are
I often wondered how that was done. I love it. Thanks for sharing, Patrick!
Beautifully artistic
These are pretty immense! Love them, especially the second with the green flash gel! This stuff is not easy so kudos to you.

Very clever and just gorgeous to look at. Well done!
I thought the first one was great, then I saw the second and I can’t stop staring! This picture is perfect, my eye wants to take in the whole thing.
Brilliant!

Love the smooth pool of water in contrast to the active drop!
This looks fantastic!
water like cream
or paint or satin
fertile territory
for the drop
to emerge
I love how you make something so beautiful out of something so simple, really like your photos!
Looks like you were having yourself lots of fun when you shot these.

Love this stuff! Impressive. Will have to look in to learning this myself. Water droplets on their own is one thing, but to blend colours? I am intrigued.
Beautiful… I’m beginning to sound like a broke recoord I know, but its all your fault
Love it. I have a photo where I threw a stone into a lake to get an effect like this…
Ok I’ll wait to read your write. Cool!
that’s so cool.
So cool!
Wow, what great photography! It is a pleasure to see these images. Thank you
superb!
These are amazing!!
The color is amazing!
the blue green drop one was ahhhhmaze balls!! Seriously good job, you went back to the “old school” setup which I personally think is trickier and harder than photoshop.
wow I never thought a drop of water could be both complex and simple at the same time. A true of art
Very nice!
Love these!
. . . love the technique!
Fairytale-like. Magical. Thanks.
You just have such a great creative streak! I love these, as I always do with your work… It also reminded me that somewhere around here I am suppose to have a couple of different color lenses. Now I’ll have to go look for them.
Bewildering!
I really need to work on my photography skills. I took a class and learned enough to figure out my SLR but I still have problems with speed. These images are amazing.
