Movember!
Hi,
It’s Movember and time to make a difference.
Men’s health is a cause I am passionate about but in order to make a difference I need your help. My commitment is to grow a moustache for the month of November and in doing so, raise vital awareness and funds for prostate cancer and male mental health.
I am asking you to help support my personal journey by making a donation. The size of which isn’t important, every little bit helps Movember to continue funding its world class programs. If you want to know more about what you’ll be helping to fund, you can visit http://ca.movember.com/about/funding-overview/.
To highlight the importance of what I am doing, take a look at these statistics:
• 1 in 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
• This year 26,500 new cases of the disease will be diagnosed
• 1 in 5 men will experience a mental illness this year
If you’d like to help change these statistics, please donate to me here: http://mobro.co/PatrickLatter
I will post some photos of my moustache half through November and again at the end. For now here is photo of my moustache from last year.

If you’re interested, here’s a video that will help you better understand the type of programs you’ll be helping to fund by making a donation. For wider details, take a look at the Programs We Fund section on the Movember website: http://ca.movember.com/about/funding-overview/
Thank you in advance for supporting my efforts to change the face of men’s health.
great post for a even better cause.
To your knees, grow it to your knees Patrick. lol
Great cause. I will take a look at the information you supplied to understand the process. bill
If u love poetry, can you look and comment my recent one? Please and thank you, im new to this sorry
not only are u an amazing photographer, u have strong moral fibre as well. Yes the stats that go with prostate cancer are way too scary. We too have the “Movember” month in Aus and many men friends will be going the hairy look and will be fund raising as well. Good on you Patrick.
best wishes on your fundraising effort – I will donate here in Australia via my son in law’s effort
Fantastic! Anything to bring awareness to the problem and get men into the doctor for check ups is a very good thing!
Having lost my husband to Prosate cancer five years ago, my family and I are very supportive of both Movember and The Long Ride. Plus we tend to be very vocal in educating people in Prosate cancer awareness.
I look forwrd to seeing your “mo”.
Good luck Patrick. I can’t contribute now with another storm on the way, but I tweeted. +Great shot of whiskers in the sun.
I cannot wait to see the progress shots!
I would love to donate . Thankx for sharing
Hi Patrick. The stats are really scary. Alas, I can’t assist. So glad to hear what you are doing – it really is a worthwhile mission.
Did it a couple of years ago… A GREAT cause!
Looks great!
Finally seeing some real men because of Movember
X
It’s great you joined, you look good! Pity I can not, lol, won’t look that nice on a lady

Stylish! I, unfortunately, can’t grow a proper beard. Instead I have decided to grow my eyebrows out to super massive style! Groovy.
Awesome! Hope you get to raise lots of funds this year.
Patrick, I really appreciate people who care!

Thank you for following! Like the mustache!
I’m doing the same thing, hope to see progress!
Hi…
I have nominated you for “One Lovely Blog Award”.
Check it out

My brother has prostate cancer and is in remission right now. I applaud your cause.
Video of the founder of Movember give a TED talk http://www.ted.com/talks/adam_garone_healthier_men_one_moustache_at_a_time.html
You look like that actor… crap! What’s his name? Oh, wait, Ryan Gosling (sp?)… that’s who I thought that was in the photo? You wear that mustache well.
If I make a donation, does that mean I have to grow a mustache? Kidding!
Good for you! Behind you all the way.
There is a difference between “No Shave November” and “Movember”. I wasn’t aware of this until last year. As a college student there are a lot of guys who participate in the “No Shave November” trend. They grow out their beards and mustaches out for the whole month of November, basically because they can. I don’t think that they are aware of “Movember”, but I think it is an awesome cause! Goodluck to you during this month!

looks like Ryan Gosling
nice photo!
I think that what you are doing is really nice. Maybe I can do something similar for breast and stomach cancer. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. My dad, stomach cancer, unfortunately he did not make it. Anyways, thank you for the inspiration and for wanting to do something as wonderful as this.
Nice mo

It’s a great idea cuz you’re right… cancer isn’t picky and it strikes people every moment of every day. I know when I was diagnosed, I was stunned…. because I didn’t think anyone in my family had ever had it. Doesn’t matter, I’m just glad that I got AFLAC Cancer Insurance when I was younger. The younger you are when you get it (if you don’t have cancer yet) the cheaper it is. My daughter’s is like $27 dollars a month. They have saved me! They send the money straight to you even if your insurance pays for something. My cancer medicine is $437.00 a month, for one tiny pill, but Aflac reimburses me every month… I tell everyone because my daughter (a Dr.) said everyone has the cancer cell somewhere in your body, so it’s just a matter of when or it something else gets you first… I’ll repost the for a few days so that maybe my one or two viewers will pass it along also & help out.
Reblogged this on Keli has a Blog and commented:
A friend is trying to make a difference in November to raise awareness & get funds for cancer funding/donations… Maybe you can help or re-blog…
Hey Patrick! My boys are right there with you!

What a wonderful way to bring awareness to men’s health by growing a mustache! Very cool : )
I am so sorry. I just don’t have any extra whiskers to send to you
, you will just have to grow them on your own.
But do get your PSAs checked regularly. My husband had a radical prostate ectomy due to Agent Orange related (generated) prostate cancer. His exposure was in vietnam, but dioxins are spead around quite a bit, all over the world, in unexpected places, so we all must stay alert.

Love your pictures always. I have nominated you for the Beautiful Blogger Award, check it out. Thanks for giving me inspiration.

My grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer and died from complications from it, so thank you for doing this for people like him. It means a lot.
Excellent post! Thank you for sharing this. I always tell my boyfriend to be more aware of his health and go for regular check-ups. Prevention is the best cure of all

Great cause, great initiative!
Growing a moustache is ALWAYS a good choice!!!! Thumbs up!!!
Is this #movember is a global movement? I believe you’re in canada and I live in Indonesia. Here we have this #movember movement, to move on, from our past. Most likely romance thingy.
Not often you actually see someone who looks good in a moustache – very handsome! And the shape is perfect for 1940s Royal Air Force too!
Fantastic!!
Lookin good, chum!
You and me both, pardner.
My dad has had prostate cancer for three years, and while it has moved to his left hip bone, he’s feeling good, taking each day as it come. Good luck on your efforts; they are for such a great cause!
Admire your cause. Your mustache is looking fine and your photography is outstanding. Thank you for reading and liking my blog.
Me likey!
Rock on, fellow Mo Bro. Fascinating article here with a theory about why the UK has the most registrants for Movember http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/what-movember-says-about-the-british-national-character-and-our-craving-for-authority-8282497.html And also the page where I’m charting my mustache — http://theamericanlondoner.com/progress-of-the-tache-through-movember/ Great to see a fellow supporter of the cause.
Wow, Ryan Gosling lookalike! The moustache fits you well
I admire your effort to raise awareness about prostate cancer and mental health, and I am totally with you on the causes. I am studying to become a Doctor of Naturopathy and am constantly spreading the word that our bodies are fully capable of healing themselves. Cancers has various causes, but something they all have in common is that cancer cells eat collagen, split, and move around the body. Micro nutrients, especially vitamin C, are vital in curing cancer. I have know several people personally, and read about thousands of others, who have healed their bodies of cancer without any chemo, surgeries, or pharmaceuticals. I would love to share more with you if you are interested.
As for mental health, one main cause of memory loss is statin drugs which are used to lower cholesterol. Because cholesterol is a major element that makes up the brain, to kill cholesterol could be detrimental to brain function.
I wish you all the best with this cause.
Movember, and No shave December under way.
The ‘tache looks good – you should post an update! All the best for your efforts on this one Patrick + thanks for all the other photos – it’s a great bonus for me sitting at the day job when one of your posts comes.
Thanks for blogging about this, Everyone should make a donation and take a stance to support this! I did.
Your pictures are really detailed and nature-y! Like it!
Excellent work and cause. Have I missed the promised shots of this year’s ‘tache?
Your photos are excellent. I am starting out as a photographer, but I am using what I can afford to take my photos. Keep up the good work.
