Background
I took these on the stretch of highway that continues on past Hana and found this to be one of the most underrated parts of the island. The road was not nearly as busy as the road to Hana and the vast fields are mostly untouched other than some small ranches.

Absolutely beautiful.
Merry Christmas!
Best wishes,

Great photos. The last photo is wonderful!
UNIQUELY FASCINATING.
Your work takes my breath away. It is a soul sauna – a sense that finally…finally someone sees.
Seeing that long drive reminds me of my race this year with Christ, and He’s about to finish it well. Next year will be another year of long drive, and let’s continue to take our journey letting Jesus hold the steering wheel!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year..:)
Very beautiful, and so much power it that last shot.
Your photography bowls me over.
these are absolutely stunning! Thanks for sharing!
Whoa! I particularly like the last picture!
Great shots again …. like the one with the rock and the ocean. I wish you a Wonderful Christmas over there in Paradise.
The best black and white I’ve seen for a long time
Patrick: Great work…really sharp and focused
Beautiful! The last is my favorite.
Love this set. Cheers and a Merry Christmas!
lovely pics – I’m a sucker for black and white! Happy holidays to you-
Sue
Nice B&W series!
Happy holidays and may the good light be with you!
Take care
Great BW shots! The clouds in the second picture look amazing as if they are caressing the hills.
I am going to order the last one on this post, but I have two questions. I already have in my shopping cart two beautiful color photos from your Hawaii trip. Then I just added the last B/W on this page. But what is the difference between “luster” “metallic” and “glossy”? I don’t know which to get. Also, I am the one who is creating the huge wall collage of your pictures. Do you think color and b/w will go well together? I have no sense of this and want your opinion, since you’re the artist.
I’m sorry for the long delay in replying, I was busy/traveling over the holidays.
Luster is more matte
Glossy is a regular glossy finish
Metallic is basically a very glossy print
If it is me I would only have colour prints in a collage or only have BW prints in a collage. Hope this answers all your questions
Great shots. I have images from two trips to Maui on my blog.
Beautiful B & W pictures. Thank you for the time you spend sharing your photos with us. It is appreciated!!
I wish you and your loved ones a Happy Christmas and Happy New Year!
Absolutely stunning! You have such talent.
Wonderful pictures as always Patrick. Have a fabulous Christmas and a very, very happy new year. I look forward to many more great posts in 2013!
so much drama in that last pic!
Breathtaking!
Great work! Merry Christmas.
These photos are amazing. Really vivid and timeless.
Beautiful B&W photography. I really like your last photo in this set.
Camera loves you. I see you from time to time at my nook but there are so many people here that I couldn’t put my thanks before, Patrick. So, thank you. Nature places (wild) and people (can be wild as well : ) are the most attractive objects. I’ve seen here some splendid shots of animals. Take care and I wish you good luck!
Absolutely gorgeous pics! Especially that last black and white. I love photography (although I have yet to learn how to properly work a camera) and I’m also fascinated with watercolor and charcoal. I tend to have better luck with charcoal and pencil drawing.
Beautiful shots, as always. I think it would be interesting to know the dates of when you took all your shots… kind of fun knowing when someone was where…. and, to get an idea of the season (for the non-snowfalling photos of course)
Awesome pics!
Excellent photography skills, it’s all in black and white but the textures are great!
WOW these are beautiful! I especially like the last one. Thank you for sharing!
Very lovely photos. I like black and white. The cliff photo is very nice.
Beautiful! The photo of the crashing waves against the stark rocks is particularly dramatic. Happy Christmas and new year! May there be ever more beauty to discover in 2013

Geeze, I wish I was there now!
Brilliant shots!! I love an open road…
I love the black and white shots. Removing the color allows us to see exactly what is there.
Breathless. You’re truly talented
always such dramatic scenes
Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing them with others.

All right, it’s about high time I go through each photograph/photograph set I’ve ever reblogged and write a story or poem. I’ll start with this one as soon as I’m finished reading the chapter of the Jack Kerouac biography I’m reading.
I love them all… beyond words.
Great art, like always
Your photos are gorgeous! Specially love the last one on this post though, very dramatic
Beautifully bleak.
Beautiful Pics
The journey to get to the photographed sites is hopefully as rewarding as the photos themselves. Well done!
Wow! beautiful photos, thank you. The last one looks like an optical illusion – it gave me goosebumps!
The best pictures
amazing pictures, a big bravo!
very nice!
Gorgeous! You should come to Honolulu next time!
Stunning, as usual !!! Happy New Year !!!
This is one of the very few times in your excellent black and white photography that I would have preferred color.
Extraordinary!
(Once I took some color shots of a snowy day and everyone thought they were B and W !)
Love these pictures.
Gorgeous island, great shots!
Stunning, Patrick. Love the BW perspective after having been in Maui in full color.
