A Weekend at Whitefish
The town of Whitefish was roughly 5 hours drive from Calgary through the prairies and towards the mountains.
With storm clouds on the horizon, a white knuckle drive through blizzard conditions lay ahead of us.
Thankfully everybody went slow and we all made it safely to whitefish that night. The promise of 7 inches of new snow had *most* of us up early that day.
Walking outside the door to our room we discovered the other room in our party had left a small surprise for us.
We were lucky enough to be staying right on the hill, so it was just a short walk outside before we were putting our gear on.
As were neared the top and began passing through the clouds, we realized just how much snow there was.
What followed, was a day of what was unanimously agreed to be the best day of skiing we had every had. There was no searching for untouched powder, EVERYTHING was powder. At times there was so much that without wide of enough skis and some speed you would just sink into the snow.
Ending the day with a group shot with Jesus. Who knew that he skied?
After a the long day of skiing we headed into town to a bar called “Casey’s” to finish the night off. FREE FUSEBALL!

So many thoughts! First, this will be great documentation to show your grandkids what fun you had cavorting about in your limber years. The shots of skiing mid-air (which I’ve never done) gave me vicarious shin splints. The first BXW pic looked like the opening shot of an indie video, and the last ones are like an inebriated “Christmas with Abercrombie & Fitch” catalogue.

Oh, wow! I love the photo with the reflection in the goggles (the skier in green). That’s fabulous! I also love the action shots of the skiers. With everything grayed out by the snow, it looks like they are super-imposed in brilliant living color over black-and-white backgrounds! Fantastic effect!

Love your photos! I used to snowboard but we moved from the northwest to the south and had to retire the hobby in favor of others. Sure miss the snowboarding though. Looks like a fantastic day to be out. So jealous!

love the photos but the one that took my eye was the skier in the green jacket and the reflections in the helmet visor, really liked that one!

Awesome pics man. And I thought we had it good here in the Sierra Nevada, Spain. Clearly I had forgotten what powder truly is! I did a winter season in Lake Louise not long ago. Never got out to Whitefish. Looks like I missed out!
