Paint Splash Photography II

The setup consists of a small computer speaker, in which I removed the protective foam and covered the front in black thin exercise rubber. I then sat this on a table with the speaker facing upwards. From here, I had a flash at 45 degrees from the camera and set to the lowest output for a short flash duration. This helps in freezing the motion of the drops. Then, I would put 2 or 3 drops of different coloured paint on the rubber and when I was ready, play a short burst of low frequency bass noise. I did this maybe 40 times while taking photos each time before I had a few shots I liked. You want to ensure that you have a small enough aperture in order to have enough depth of field to capture the majority of drops in focus.
