Location: Vancouver, Canada
Time: 3 Hours
Weather: -8°C
Elevation Gain: 450m
Max Elevation: 1700m
Start Time: 8:00pm

Directions

To get to the trail (XC ski area on Cypress) take the Cypress Bowl exit from the Upper levels Highway in North Vancouver (heading to Horseshoe bay) keeping a keen eye out for the sign to Cypress. Drive up to Cypress, as if you were going to the downhill ski area, but when up top, take the XC ski and snowshoe turnoff to the right, before you get to the downhill area. You will see the signage (looks like a small shelter, but is a Parks Kiosk) and park anywhere nearby.

Gear

  • Hiking Boots
  • Food
  • Water
  • Shell
  • Warm fleece
  • Gloves
  • Toque
  • Micro Spikes

Story

Winter in Vancouver can be overcast weeks at a time, so getting a clear night and a full moon can be rare. With so much light from the moon, we didn’t even need headlamps.
