Two Jack Lake and Lake Minnewanka

Directions

Take Highway 1 from Calgary and turn right at the first Banff exit. From here follow the signs for Two Jack Lake.

Background

I passed by Lake Minnewanka on my way to Two Jack Lake and took a few shots while it was still dark. The cold temperatures caused an icy fog/mist to rise off the still unfrozen lake.

Once I arrived at Two Jack Lake, I began to make my way around the icy shore trail.

After the sun had risen, I made my way back to Minnewanka to take a few more photos.

After trying to leave, my path was blocked by a rather smug Bighorn Sheep.

You have quite the eyes for photography, and i must say your brave walking around the great out doors like a polar-bear. Great shots, especially with the big horn and the ‘Dragon on the water’ as my niece called the half frozen plant life in the lake.

Patrick: The other day I gave a “Like” to your Ram. Thanks for liking my Winter Solitude Image today…when I logged in through WordPress to my Elm Drive Images a full page of your lake scene was the first thing to come up. I liked it but have no idea how it happened. Do you? Also for the first time WordPress showed avatars or thumbnail images of some of the people who follow me on WordPress and mentioned they had also forwarded the post by tweet to 24 people who follow me on Twitter. I knew, of course, my followers automatically get a copy of my posts but had never seen them in the left panel alongside my post after I posted it. The one that tells you how many images you’ve posted. This was all in the dashboard area…No one else could see it…If this is confusing it’s because I’m an old man!

The phrase is, “Life isn’t measured by how many breaths you take, but by the times your breath is taken.” These are indeed some of those “breath taken” moments. I especially like the sunrise withe the two trees, and the floating houses at the base of the mountain. Is that a s**t-eating grin on the big horn?
