Tofino Surf Trip

We took a roughly 2 hour ferry crossing to Vancouver Island from Vancouver.

We stopped along the way at a protected Douglas Fir old growth forest called Cathedral Grove.

It was another 2.5 hour drive to the amazing surf house we were staying at that was right on Chesterman Beach.

Low tide on Chesterman Beach went out for 100’s of meters.

    Love the photos- I’ve not long ago taken up pastels and can see a couple of your photos would make great pastel projects (May be a copyright issue, ??)
    Love the surfing- a bit different to surfing here in Queensland, Australia- stand up paddle board is a recent thing here

    Wow, What an incredible blog posting, and I loved all the photos. since I’m only a few miles away from there..I’ve never seen surf boards like that, and it looks incredibly fun, and the paddles would certainly be a little extra protection from the barnacle rocks which a viewer can’t see, but we know are in those mud flats from Years Of Walking in them. ( I meant from the paddles would help balance so a person didn’t fall over into them) We used to dive off a floating ‘dock’ though. When the tide comes in doesn’t take too long before its getting deep.

    You must have had an incredible time, everything from the ferry, old growth, home you were staying at, to beach then beer, Seriously, could anyone ask for a more perfect time?
