New Hosting and New Design

I have moved my blog from being ‘’ hosted to ‘self hosted’. I’ve done my best to make the transition as painless as possible, if you notice anything missing/wrong, please let me know! Thoughts on the new design are welcome as well 🙂 The new blog should be located at the same domain:

I will keep my site and post links to any new posts that are created on the new site so that any followers will still get updates. Anyone that is an email subscriber shouldn’t have to do anything as I have transferred those to the new host.

I received my notice of a new post from your now self-hosted site, but I couldn’t get the title link or the domain link (from the email)to work. The final link included in the mail worked though, which led me here. Best wishes to you.

Only the third link worked but hopefully that is just because it’s all new. Good luck.

Your first link in the email ( takes me to a page that says on the top:

“Index of/”, then a list of links:

Always appreciate and love your work!

I am always so curious to know why people switch to self-hosted sites. In your case, they may offer plug-ins you need for selling photos.
For the commenters, it becomes more time-consuming to log-in every time…

Are you using now? Was it a hard transition? I am just curious. Thinking of doing the same at some point. Thanks!

It doesn’t look so much different of the last design, but anyway it is great :).

I think he just did it to have more control and flexibility of his site if he so chose.

Why’d you switch? The design is very similar. Didn’t it used to be called Canadian Hiking photography? It’s a nice blog either way.

Oh, this is a great sign – I was wondering if your followers would stay connected if you move to self-hosting. Thanks for the heads up! Which hosting site did you use? Bluehost?
